Summary:-
Axel tried to break the secret code of the parchment. By chance, he read two Latin words “Crater of the Earth”. This enabled him to read and understand the message. It was surprising. The man said he was able to go to the centre of the earth. Axel decided not to tell his uncle because he was sure that he would go to this journey. So, he decided to burn it, but he couldn’t because his uncle entered at this moment.
The Professor tried again to break the secret code but he couldn’t. So, Axel felt sorry for him and told him about the message. The message said, “Go down into the crater of Sneffels which was touched by the shadow of Scarties before July. You’ll reach the centre of the earth as I did”. The Professor became very happy.
The Professor decided to make the journey to the centre of the earth. He asked Axel to bring the Atlas, where they saw the places that Arne had mentioned in his message. Sneffels was an extinct volcano. One of its craters led to the centre of the earth was very hot. The Professor didn’t change his mind and he decided to leave with his nephew for Iceland.
