Admire:- To think something is very nice to look at.
To lose :- To faint or fall asleep.
Giant:- Very large.
Mushroom:- A brown plant with a stork stem and round top which can be eaten.
Raft :- A flat boat made from logs of wood.
Shore :- The flat land beside the sea or large area of water.
Slope :- A surface which is higher on one side than the other.
Umbrella:- Stick with a cloth roof hold in the hand to keep the user dry.
Wander :- To walk slowly without purpose.
Well:- A deep hole from which oil or water is taken.
Summary of chapter ( 6 )
Axel was awakened by the noise of the waves crashing on the shore and heard a sound like a thunder. Professor Lindenbrock could calculate the distance between him and Axel . He asked him to walked as it was six kilometers. Axel walked down the passage. But he fell down a well . His head hit a sharp rock and fainted. When he awoke, he found his uncle sitting beside him.
Axel slept for a long time and when he awoke he saw a sea which the Professor called “ Lindenbrock Sea.” It has a beach of golden sand and the light was cold and white. The characters found bones of animals and a forest of trees which were like giant umbrellas. Hans made a raft because the Professor intended to cross the sea explore it.
